This drink is basically hot apple cider that has been simmered with a variety of spices and herbs, giving it a rich, spicy flavour. During winter mulled cider can be the perfect beverage to enjoy on a cold night. Mulled wine is popular on Christmas markets and has been around for a very long time, the British made their own version with apples due to the abundance that grows over here.
There's already quite a few recipe's out there so we thought we would narrow it down for you. No matter what recipe you choose, we would choose a cloudy, medium-sweet tannic driven cider over a dry acidic cider for this, but a little acidity always helps with balance don't forget! We would of course encourage a 100% fresh pressed juice cider, if you're in your local supermarket then a Sheppy's or Thatchers should do the trick.
